It’s not every day that I’m asked to fly across the country to photograph a wedding, much less back to my home state of Louisiana. So when a former middle school classmate of mine asked me last year if I would travel to my hometown of Baton Rouge to be her son’s wedding photographer I was beyond excited! I always feel a great sense of honor when anyone asks me to be their photographer, but when my childhood friend told me her son had been admiring my photography online and wanted me to document his wedding, I was humbled and overwhelmed with honor. When I finally got to meet Nita and Marty at White Oak Plantation this past weekend, they were everything a wedding photographer could hope for in a bride and groom! Nita is a quintessential southern belle–as sweet and gracious as she is beautiful–and Marty was every bit the generous and polite southern gentleman. They and their families made me feel right at home and reminded me of the reasons I am proud to be a Baton Rouge native. Despite a very hectic schedule and some pretty good thunderstorms I managed to capture tons of great moments on their wedding day and squeeze in some nice portrait sessions. Thank y’all for letting me sneak into the police-escorted caravan! But thank you mostly for trusting me with documenting the memories and moments of your beautiful wedding!
